Anirban
Basu
Mr. Basu is Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and
policy consulting firm in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Basu is one of the
Mid-Atlantic region's most recognizable economists, in part because of
his consulting work on behalf of numerous clients, including prominent
developers, bankers, brokerage houses, energy suppliers and law firms.
On behalf of government agencies and non-profit organizations, Mr. Basu
has written several high-profile economic development strategies,
including coauthoring Baltimore City's economic growth strategy. In
recent years, he has focused upon health economics, the economics of
education and economic development. He currently lectures at Johns
Hopkins University in micro-, macro- and international economics. Mr.
Basu is involved with numerous organizations in a voluntary capacity,
including serving as a Baltimore City Public School System board member.
Mr. Basu is also on the boards of Union Memorial Hospital, the MedStar
strategic planning committee, Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity and the
Maryland Business Council. He is also chairman of the Baltimore County
Economic Advisory Committee and economic advisor to the
Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Basu earned his
B.S. in Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 1990. He earned his
Master's in Public Policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy
School of Government and his Master's in Economics from the University
of Maryland, College Park. His Juris Doctor was earned at the University
of Maryland School of Law in 2003.
Ken
Hedlund
Ken is the principal in charge of Somerset's Construction & A/E Team
and works closely with clients to meet their needs in the business
management, audit and tax areas. Ken routinely consults with
construction, architect and engineering clients on operational and
efficiency issues. Prior to joining the firm, Ken was involved in the
running of a successful, closely-held business, and he effectively
applies this experience to help clients make financial and operating
decisions. He received his B.S. degree from Purdue University in 1982.
Ken speaks to various organizations, including the Associated Builders
and Contractors, Indiana Subcontractors Association, BDO Seidman, the
Indiana CPA Society and other groups on tax, accounting and management
issues specifically related to the construction and design industries.
Ken regularly writes articles for various publications, including the
Indianapolis Business Journal, Hoosier Contractor and Equipment Today.
Ken is on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Associated
Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Indiana and serves as the State
Treasurer. In 2004 Ken was awarded the James J. Leonard Memorial Award,
which is given annually to one ABC member for meritorious service and
outstanding leadership to the industry and the association. He also
received the S. Douglas Trolson Associates Image Award in 2004 and the
Model Member Image Award in 2008, both from ABC of Indiana. In 2008, Ken
was named "Outstanding CPA in Public Practice" by the Indiana CPA
Society. He is an officer of the Finance Council of the Archdiocese of
Indianapolis serving as Secretary. He is also an officer on the
Executive Board of the Indianapolis Parks Foundation serving as
Treasurer. Ken was the founding Executive Committee Chairman of the BDO
Seidman Alliance's Construction Industry Group and is currently Chair of
the Business Development/Value-Add Committee. Ken is a member of the
Indiana CPA Society, American Institute of CPAs, Construction Financial
Management Association, Indiana Subcontractors Association, American
Institute of Architects and American Council of Engineering Companies.
J.R.
Gaylor
J.R. is the President and CEO of ABC, Associated Builders and
Contractors, Inc. of Indiana. J.R. is also a Registered Lobbyist to the
Indiana General Assembly. He is currently serving a three-year term on
the Board of Trustees for Vincennes University as a Governor's
appointee. J.R. also is on the board of directors of the Indiana
Construction Roundtable. For the past seven years, J.R. has been named
as Who's Who of Construction Design/Engineering in the Indianapolis
Business Journal (IBJ), and named one of fifteen "Power Players" in the
Indiana construction industry in 2005 by the IBJ.
Brewster
Bevis
Brewster currently serves as the Senior Director of Legislative
affairs for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) where he has
oversight on all legislative issues. Prior to joining ABC, Brewster was
a Presidential Appointee in the Administration of President George W.
Bush were he served as a Legislative Officer in the Office of
Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of
Labor. Prior to working at the Department of Labor, Brewster served on
the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee. Brewster also worked for
Bush-Cheney '04 as a Regional Political Director in Florida. Prior to
this he served on Capitol Hill in the office of former Florida
Congresswoman Katherine Harris. Brewster also worked on Congresswoman
Harris' first Congressional campaign as well as working with Katherine
Harris when she served as Florida's Secretary of State. Brewster is from
Tallahassee, Florida and attended Florida State University where he
received his B.S. in International Affairs.
James
Hanson
Mr. Hanson has advised and represented numerous employers in the
transportation, construction and other industries in a wide variety of
management labor and employment-related matters, including defending
wrongful discharge and discrimination claims; negotiating severance
agreements; preparing employee handbooks, policy manuals and substance
abuse and harassment policies; negotiating collective bargaining
agreements; conducting counter-union organizing campaigns; handling wage
and hour investigations; counseling employers on FLSA, FMLA and COBRA
compliance; and representing employers before the NLRB, the EEOC, the
U.S. Department of Labor and other state and federal agencies and in
litigation in federal and state courts. He has also advised and
represented clients in claims under the Employee Retirement Income
Security Act (ERISA) and the Multiemployer Pension Plan Act (MPPAA).
Named as one of the top 5% of Indiana lawyers by the 2004-2007 Indiana
Super Lawyers peer selection survey, Mr. Hanson has lectured nationally
on numerous labor and employment matters. Mr. Hanson has also argued
before the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Hanson graduated from Anderson
University (B.A., magna cum laude) and the Indiana University School of
Law - Indianapolis (J.D., magna cum laude). Licensed in Indiana in 1981,
Mr. Hanson is admitted to practice before all Indiana state and federal
courts, the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Second, Sixth, Seventh and
Eleventh Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the
Indianapolis, Indiana State (Labor and Employment Section) and American
Bar Associations (Labor and Employment and Litigation Sections) and a
member of and director of the National Transportation Employee Relations
Association. He is also the chapter attorney for the Associated Builders
& Contractors, Indiana Chapter, Inc.

Mike Padgett
Mike is a partner in Jackson Lewis's Chicago office, with his office
residence in Indianapolis. Mr. Padgett's practice covers a broad range
of employment litigation and traditional labor matters. His litigation
experience includes defending claims of race, age, national origin and
gender discrimination, as well as sexual harassment, unlawful
retaliation, wage and hour claims (including class actions), non-compete
matters and occupational safety and health matters. Mr. Padgett has
handled these matters in federal and state courts in several states, as
well as in the Seventh and Fifth U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals. Mr.
Padgett has extensive experience in defending claims before the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor and
state and local labor and employment agencies. Mr. Padgett also has
broad experience in traditional labor matters, including negotiating
collective bargaining agreements, representing employers in grievance
arbitration proceedings, handling unfair labor practice charges before
the National Labor Relations Board and defending employers in breach of
contract litigation. Mr. Padgett served as lead labor counsel for the
owner in negotiating the project labor agreement governing the
construction of a new NFL football stadium in Indianapolis. Mr. Padgett
routinely counsels clients on a variety of labor and employment issues,
conducts employee training seminars and speaks on employment-related
topics to various organizations. Mr. Padgett graduated cum laude from
the Indiana University School of Law. His undergraduate degree is in
Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and Mr. Padgett
worked as a mechanical engineer in Indianapolis for four years prior to
entering law school. Prior to entering the private practice of law, Mr.
Padgett served as Chief Counsel to the Indiana Department of Labor.
